Sexsmith calls itself the Grain Capital of the British Empire, a title from the days when its elevators shipped more grain than anywhere else in the region. That history is still visible along its heritage main street, where the 1916 blacksmith shop survives with its original tools in place. Today it is a short commute north of Grande Prairie and a working farm town in its own right.
